Performing the Readymade Again: Outline for a future performance at the National Art Gallery of Singapore
1. Place a ceramic bedpan on a plinth before Redza Piyadasa’s Self-Portrait of the Artist as A Model, 1977.
2. Wearing a Cowboy hat, stand between the bedpan and the painting.
3. Address the audience in Malay and then proceed in English.
4. Extemporize a performance at the interstices of art and life.
5. Engage the audience in discussion.
Performing the Readymade was originally enacted as a video performance in London in 1993 using a mounted copy of the painting.
