.1 Pazham Neeyappa presents the Koboi standing before a hoarding of SUPERSTAR Rajinikanthin the role of Malaysian Indian gangland Don Kabaleeswaran or Kabali from the 2016 Kollywood Blockbuster of the same name. Director Pa Ranjith casts Rajinikanth as an aging mobster who champions the Malaysian Indian underclass in a narrative that can be read as an allegory of cast struggles in India. In the opening sequence, Kabali is shown in his prison cell, reading ‘My Father Baliah’ by Y B Satyanarayana which depicts the travails of generations of the authors Dalit family as they strive for education and betterment in the face of the oppressions of the caste system.
