Suriyan (the Supreme Light) is the central Graha of the Navagrahas or 9 astronomical bodies (in Thailand Suryian is known as Phra Athit and the Navagraha are the Nopakroh). At the heart of this performance is the offering of Black herbal jelly, moulded in the form of Suriyan, to Phra Rahu. The 'Suriyan jelly' mould was cast from an antique terracotta of from South India .
